Adani-Elbit Advanced Systems India Ltd  is a joint venture between Adani Defence & Aerospace (51%) and Israel’s Elbit Systems (49%), operating India's first private unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) manufacturing facility in Hyderabad. 


Established in 2018, the plant manufactures Hermes 900 and Hermes 480 Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAVs. 



Key details regarding the joint venture include:

Manufacturing Capability: The facility produces composite aero-structures, sub-assemblies, and completes the final assembly of Hermes 900 drones.


Export and Operations: The unit has delivered over 20 Hermes 900 UAVs, produced under transfer of technology from Elbit Systems, for export.


Significance: It is the first facility outside of Israel to manufacture the Hermes 900 UAV, boosting India's indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities.


Controversy: In 2024, reports indicated that this joint venture was involved in exporting drones to Israel during the ongoing conflict in Gaza. 


The facility is a major component of Adani's strategy to enhance India’s self-reliance in defence manufacturing, focusing on unmanned systems.
